Director of Photography
My name is Marcel van Werkhoven, and I am the cinematographer for this project.
As someone who had a deep interest in puppetry from a young age, I had many people around me who were incredibly supportive. In my own mind, however I saw the activities of sewing, cutting fabric, color theory, as not particularly masculine. As a result of the support I was given, I went on to go to various workshops for puppetry at the University of North Texas and Sesame Workshop. This interest in arts and media led me to film school, where I studied cinematography. As I continued my arts education, I saw many men who were similar to me in those various fields. As I’ve studied puppetry, and eventually film and cinematography in college, It became even more abundantly clear that the misconceptions I had in my mind were wrong. This project in particular is special to me as it addresses those topics so that young men like me don’t grow up thinking that they are less masculine than others just because of one reason or another. www.mvwimages.com
